My hypothesis is that Dungeoneering indirectly contributed to the decline in Runescape's quality. The 25th skill was supposed increase revenue and players. But Dungeoneering failed to increase the number of players on Runescape and did not generate the additional revenue required.

In the year 2010 later, Insight Venture Partners (majority owner of Jagex) must have come down hard on Jagex when there weren't more new players joining Runescape. Listen in as IVP/Jagex 2010 took place.

Representatives from Insight venture Partners to Jagex representatives: We held this meeting about Jagex’s cash flow. You led us to believe that this new "dungeoneering" update that was announced in April 2010 would boost your share of the gamers' market. You were wrong to think that your cash flow has improved since April of this year. You had your chance. From this point on, we'll continue to do things our way.

Runescape declined a lot following the fact. Jagex introduced many new things to help runescape. Removal of the Trade Limit and return of old Wilderness without addressing the bot problem first... leading to massive botting at dragons, all trees with high levels and all ores, as well as all zones for fish, slayers, Sorceress' Garden, and so on.] (February 1, 2011)

A Ornate Katana is available for purchase when you purchase an Runescape card for 90 days (June 20, 2011). Jagex Loyalty Programme - June 28, 2011. Refer-a friend program, earn an experience boost of 10% for a week. (August 18, 2011).
